The Ultimate Party Planning Guide

There are so many factors to think about when it comes to party planning, so we’re here to give you our ‘Ultimate Party Planning Guide’! We’ll list some common mistakes to avoid as well as provide a step by step on booking and planning your party!

Mistakes to Avoid

1. Booking a Party You Want!

First of all if the party is for you, then that’s fine! However if it’s a little one you are booking for don’t forget to ask them what they want. You might think they want an all singing, all dancing party with balloon modellers, face painters, DJ’s and more. Your little one however may be happy with a classic character visit at home!
Tip: Ask yourself the question, if that wasn’t at the party would my child notice?

2. Booking the cheapest option because it’s cheap!

We would never accuse a business of being terrible just because they are the cheapest. We do believe however that this shouldn’t factor when booking your party. You can’t compare the service that each entertainer offers as it tends to be so different. You have to go with a service that suits you and your needs.

3. Asking about the Booking Process

When booking services make sure the business you are using takes your full booking and contact details and secures with a deposit. This is usually done over the phone. Make sure you know the booking process along with the terms and conditions of the business too. What is the cancellation policy? What happens if the snow is heavy?

4. Not Reading Reviews

Don’t book a business without checking out their reviews. Length of trading, reliability and actual pictures of the events are often shown through reviews and can be a great source of information before booking.

5. Booking too late!

When it comes to the party industry services can be booked up quickly. We’d always advise booking 3+ months in advance.

6. Having a long party!

When booking a party for children – we’d always advise a party of no more than 2 hours. Any longer and you may struggle to keep their attention (even with a food break). If it’s a family party (Christening for example) no more than 3. Remember it’s not about how long your guests are there it’s about the fun they have!

7. Making sure it all works together!

Have you decided you’re booking more than one business on the day? Make sure you know how each business will work and how that will affect other businesses on the day of your party.

8. Booking the right day!

There’s no right or wrong answer with this – we’d always advise asking a few friends or family in regards a to a date you have in mind. Any day of the week is great to have a party – even weekday! (See our blog on this here.)
