Work Experience with The CopyCat Party Company

Foreword by the Owner Laura.

Below is a lovely blog written by one of our latest work experience team Amelia. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed having Amelia here and we are extremely proud that she’s found the confidence to share her experience and put it all into a short blog for you all to read.

My Introduction

6th July 2026 was the beginning of my work experience at CopyCat Party Company. I thought I would just be making tea and coffees and sorting diaries the little and boring side of work, but to my surprise my first job was to hold a mascots head so that it could be cleaned which was then followed up cleaning some mascot feet. Although it was strange, it was fun, different and it felt as if the day was not dragged down by the weight of slow tedious tasks.

Working within a Team

The atmosphere was friendly, lively, and welcoming. The team have a genuine love for their job. I would say that it is very easy to engage with conversation with the team and not feel awkward especially when asking questions. Even with their flexible and chill attitude they are all still hardworking and serious about making children happy with their business.

By far I would have to say that Laura (the owner) has a strong love for her business and shows it ,as every day so far she has a big contented smile and bubbly personality (even on a Monday!) She has created a safe and appropriate  environment built for learning and challenging the students she takes on for her business.

Skills

During work experience the business has a wide range of significant challenges for students that help them with understanding the opportunity and skill set that work can provide them for the future. Creativity, maintenance, customer service and managing a business are the most important skills that students can acquire while working here as they get to have the real experience working alongside the business. For example learning how maintain the wigs and costumes which allows the student to access the creative ,artistic and maintenance part of the job.

Another example is me writing this blog, it gives me the skills to be able to write for a business or about said business which allows me to see the creativity of expressing ideas and opinions. Each day so far has been met with a new exciting job expected to be fulfilled with an engaged desire to learn and enabling us to gain new abilities that we can use for work in the future. Each moment is  crucial learning curve that supports students to take into perspective on the real life working.

Overall experience

As I’m writing this the people around me commit to the jobs with a sense of pride and joy in what they do and by that I mean everyone. Just across from where I’m writing, a student is maintaining and restoring a wig that looked beyond repair before she started. However with the correct guidance and constructive criticism by Laura it gave her the perseverance and resilience to continue and allow her to make a steady but significant progress in restoring the wig.

Behind me are two other students who are listing items on a market place independently. As they do this they are actively harnessing the capability to be able to logically think about how to assess products and to able to determine the value of the products. They are also using a payment platform and looking at how a business works with sustainability and recycling older garments.

In my opinion personally would say that this company is a business that I would recommend for students who have a passion of creativity and have artistic traits or want to grasp the ins and outs of a business.

It can also just be for students who want to try something new and explore different opportunities, as the company has the right support for peoples first time. I’am now writing to you on July 10th which is the last day of my work experience to say that it has been exciting and overall made me feel more confident in the workplace.
